Ad box traffic statistics were a bit off yesterday and this morning; here’s why

4:03 am status blog

If you’re a publisher you might have noticed your traffic statistics are a bit low for yesterday. We made a change to the database that unfortunately caused one table – the one keeping track of IPs accessing ad boxes so we know which views are unique and which aren’t – to be unaccessible starting at around 3:00 pm yesterday to 7:30 am EST this morning, when we noticed the problem and corrected it.

The effect of this is that on your ad box information page, hits and uniques are lower than they should be for yesterday and today. This did NOT affect the performance of bids or campaigns or anything from the advertising side, and all their tracking information is accurate. And it’s fixed moving forward, but if you’re wondering where that dip in traffic yesterday came from, now you know: it’s us, we dropped the ball for a few hours. Everything is back to normal now.

Sorry about that! It shouldn’t happen again, and we’re putting new alerts in place to alert us to this particular sort of problem. It unfortunately slipped by our existing monitoring systems.
